The much-anticipated 2026 season of the Indian Premier League has officially been announced, with the tournament set to begin on March 28, 2026, and conclude with the grand final on May 31, 2026 at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The upcoming season will be the largest in IPL history, featuring 84 matches played across several cities in India.
Organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the 2026 edition will see 10 franchises competing for the prestigious title. The playoffs are scheduled to begin on May 26, leading up to the highly anticipated final match at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.
One of the biggest highlights of IPL 2026 is the expansion of matches from 74 in 2025 to 84 in 2026, making it the most extensive season since the tournament began in 2008. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, will enter the tournament aiming to retain their crown after defeating Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final. RCB is expected to play five home matches in Bengaluru and two in Raipur, giving fans multiple opportunities to watch their team in action.
